New Heights for Ecological Practice

AeroEcology Ltd is a specialist Airborne Ecological Consultancy, registered with the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (CIEEM), offering a wide variety of Ecological Survey & Assessment services using Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (SUAVs).

Whilst all professional SUAV operators are (or should be) operated by qualified pilots, AeroEcology Ltd pilots are also qualified and experienced ecologists, fully insured and approved by the Civil Aviation Authority for commercial operations (PfCO).

Services we offer include:
  • Phase 1 Habitat & vegetation mapping (including NVC)
  • Habitat Mapping for Biodiversity Metric (including calculations)
  • Site monitoring
  • Invasive species surveys & mapping
  • Specialist botanical work (eg cliff side & inaccessible habitat survey)
  • Building & tree inspection for bat roost assessments
  • Remote Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) surveys
  • Remote eDNA sampling for great crested newts (coming soon)
  • Bird surveys (eg nest & colony counts, population assessments)
  • General ecological survey & assessment, especially on difficult sites
  • General site photography including 3D modelling & 360 degree panoramas
  • Training (habitat mapping, remote surveying etc)

As a specialist Airborne Ecological Consultancy, we are able offer our services at very competitive rates, whatever your need – the kind of service that you could not expect from a regular SUAV operator that does not employ their own ecologists.

Costs vary depending upon the location, size of site, difficulty of access, or presence of hazards, obstructions or flight restrictions, but are likely to be significantly cheaper than purchasing and insuring your own SUAV and associated equipment, and training a pilot.
